SCHEDULE:          Monday - Friday, 7:45am -1:30pm, 5.75 Hours per day

 

SUMMARY:           To assist in the preparation and serving of food to students/staff in a quick and professional manner.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Assist with meal production and service of meals as directed

Follow HACCP procedures and Food Safety Plan along with Standard Operating Procedures

Assist with the daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment and ensure cleanliness and sanitation conditions are met.

Sets up and breaks down serving lines (salad bar, hot food, a la carte, etc.).

Ability to perform all responsibilities of a helper, including but not limited to, operate all equipment, POS/cash register, count money, make change, and daily paper work.

Works professionally with both students and staff.

Is familiar with reimbursable meal requirements and can properly identify a reimbursable meal.

Shall, as requested by the Director of Food Service, participate in workshops or in-service training programs to meet the requirement of training hours for professional standards.

Shall perform other similar duties as may be requested by the Head Cook and/or Director of Food Service.

Responsible to maintain regular and reliable attendance.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Successful completion of certification for Applied Food Service Sanitation Course taken through statewide training or local training.   High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).  Previous experience with large scale cooking and food preparation/serving.

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to pass an entry level aptitude test.  Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students.

Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written directions, manuals and documents.  Ability to write correspondence/messages.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisors, staff, students and the general public.

 

Mathematical and Reasoning Skills – Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, measurements, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

The job typically requires some physical exertion; individuals in this position will be on their feet throughout the workday.  The person in this position needs to move about inside and outside.   In addition, the person may need to ascend/descend a step stool/ladder and may need to push or lift equipment, supplies, materials, etc. The employee will need specific vision abilities to perform duties.  The employee may be required to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
